For Insurance SIU & fraud teams

Citation-anchored fraud investigation.

The signals that nuke a fraudulent claim — the gym selfie three days after the alleged disability event, the new business filing under a 'unemployed' claimant — are public. The hard part is finding them quickly and documenting them defensibly. Tracelight is built for that workflow.

What SIU teams need

Your investigators are running concurrent claim files. The decision point is whether to refer to outside investigation, deny, or settle. The OSINT signals that swing that decision often surface in the first 30 minutes of a focused search — if you know where to look. Tracelight automates the where-to-look.

  • Claimant social-media presence across platforms
  • Recent activity timeline (geo-tagged content, check-ins)
  • Cross-claim pattern detection (same claimant, multiple carriers via public adjuster filings)
  • Asset-search signals (vehicle, real estate, business filings)
  • Identity resolution on misrepresentation cases

A real claim workflow

Suspected fraudulent disability claim. Claimant alleges back injury preventing return to work as of date X. Drop the claimant into a Tracelight subject with name, DOB, last known address, claim number. The platform runs: social-platform presence by name/email/phone, recent post analysis with timestamp surfacing, public business filing index (did this claimant register an LLC in the last 90 days?), vehicle/real-estate filings, and gym/fitness-platform username sweep. Output: a timestamped report you can attach to the file and refer to outside SIU.

Defensibility

Every signal in a Tracelight report is footnoted to its source. The report carries a content hash. When you refer to outside investigation or to legal, the report is the basis of the engagement — your investigator isn't starting from a blank file. When you deny a claim and the claimant litigates, the report is in the file with proof of when it was generated and what was visible.

Volume pricing

SIU teams typically run 30-200 OSINT passes per month per investigator. Agency tier ($499/mo) includes 200 cases and is right for a 2-5 person SIU desk. Larger carriers should email founder@trytracelight.com for annual + multi-seat arrangements. The API and webhook surface is built for claim-system integration.

Compliance posture

Tracelight surfaces public signals; the platform does not bypass platform privacy controls, scrape behind-login data, or aggregate non-public information. We don't aggregate consumer financial data and we are not a credit bureau. For investigations that intersect with insurance fraud reporting (NICB, state insurance fraud bureaus), the report is structured for inclusion in a referral package.

Common objections

How does this compare to FRISS / Verisk Claims Search?

Different layer of the stack. FRISS is a fraud-scoring platform built into claim systems. Verisk Claims Search is industry-shared claim data. Tracelight is the OSINT investigation tool an investigator uses on a flagged claim. Most SIU teams use both: industry-shared data to flag, OSINT to investigate the flag.

Is this admissible in claim litigation?

The report itself is research output; its admissibility depends on the underlying sources. Each citation is verifiable independently, which is what matters at deposition. We provide the audit trail; admissibility is up to your counsel.

Can we integrate with our claim system?

Yes — REST API + webhooks. The API supports creating cases, attaching subjects, fetching reports, and receiving signal alerts via webhook. See /docs for the spec.

What we don't do

Honest positioning matters more than feature-list maximalism. Here's what we're explicitly not, so you can rule us in or out faster:

  • We don't bypass platform privacy controls or scrape behind-login content.
  • We don't aggregate or surface non-public consumer financial data.
  • We are not a substitute for outside SIU services for cases requiring physical surveillance or in-person interview.
